CAW submission on Regional Policy Statement

GWRC are calling for submissions on the Regional Policy Statement, due 8 June 2009. This covers broad environmental policy, but it would be good if the Great Harbour Way was written into it, in particular the concept of a path around the harbour as close as possible to the waters edge. Could also ask for concept of a regional cycling network to be incorporated. Is anyone planning a CAW submission - if not I'll draft one.

Hutt News article details changes to cycling route at the Petone overbridge:

"The joint NZTA/Hutt City Council (HCC) project will provide an off road cycleway adjacent to Hutt Road connecting with a ramp under the Petone overbridge. This ramp will link the path with cycle facilities on State Highway 2's on-ramp, separating cyclists from the Petone Esplanade roundabout when heading south"

Following on from the successful trial of green surfacing near the BP Horokiwi Service Station, NZTA will be making improvements along State Highway 2 (SH2) to ensure cyclists are more visible. Green cycling zones are to be installed between Ngauranga Gorge and Petone.
