LTCCP (Long Term Council Community Plan) pre-consultation meetings
Sport &Recreation: Russell & Robert attended – discussion with councillor JohnMorrison who was sympathetic to the GHW concept.
Economics: Nicola attended. Roger Kerr was postitive about GHWabt $ redn- not long term- beyond recession.
Environment: Patrick & Illona reported on thisIona said that there will be formal submissions on the LTCCP in April/May.Submissions should be about 1p. Vital to submit that $100K for the cycling plan is
preserved. This is likely to be less than for example the new Sports Centre. Money is
not coming from walking budget. Support GHW, but there is a problem with
expensive items. There will also be regional and other local body LTCCPs to submit
on. Numbers of submissions will be important. Could submit to make suburban
sports centre cycle friendly. Also support expenditure on tracks. Also important to
support Manners Mall changes in order to implement efficient public transport.
Iona also mentioned that NZTA appear to be removing funding from Safer Roads to
Black Spots.
Update on Great Harbour Way
Alastair reported on a meeting with Gunther Wild and Graham Taylor of NZTA about
the Triangle Study (Tawa-Ngauranga-Hutt connections). Hopeful that a seawardcycle/walking path will be built between Ngauranga Petone as part of rail/road
